The Story Behind Classical Gems

Classical Gems was born from a deep love for Indian classical arts, guided by the vision of Aswathi Prakash. The institute was founded to bridge the growing disconnect between these timeless traditions and today’s busy world, offering a haven where students can immerse themselves in the beauty of Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, and visual arts.

A Legacy in Harmony: The Dynamic Duo Redefining Premium Art Education in Kerala

Siblings Aswathi and Athul Prakash form the backbone of Classical Gems, blending their unique strengths to elevate the institute.

While Aswathi pours her heart into preserving and promoting classical dance traditions, Athul ensures these offerings reach a wider audience through strategic branding and innovation.

Together, they’ve crafted a sanctuary for art that resonates far beyond boundaries, seamlessly marrying heritage with forward-thinking vision.

The Visionary & Founder

Kalamandalam Aswathi Prakash

From a young age, Aswathi was captivated by the world of dance. Starting her journey at age five under the guidance of her first guru, Bina Kozhikode, she gave her debut performance at the revered Guruvayur Temple by age ten. Her talent and passion were clear from the start, leading her to pursue rigorous training at Kerala Kalamandalam.

At Kalamandalam, Aswathi spent eight years refining her skills in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam under the guidance of esteemed teachers such as Kalamandalam Sangeetha Prasad and Dr. Kalamandalam Rachitha Ravi. This training deepened her understanding of these art forms and instilled a profound respect for their cultural significance.

The Genesis of Classical Gems

After earning her MA in Bharatanatyam from Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Aswathi set out to create a space where others could experience the joy and discipline of Indian classical arts. This vision led to the founding of Classical Gems in Calicut, Kerala.

Since its inception, Classical Gems has grown into a beacon of artistic excellence, attracting students eager to learn Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Carnatic music, and visual arts. Aswathi’s dedication to preserving these traditions is evident in every aspect of the institute, from the carefully crafted courses to the personalized attention each student receives.
